2007 Serve Idaho Service Projects
On Monday February 26th, 2007 the first day of the Serve Idaho Conference, the Conference attendees participated in a variety of service projects throughout the community. This signature event allowed the participants to give back to the conference host community.
If you would like to host a service project in Post Falls in 2008 please contact the service project coordinator Renee Cox at rcox@idoc.idaho.gov or 208-658-2151.
We would like to thank the following agencies that hosted this year's service projects:
- Project Linus - Thanks to all the volunteers who made fleece blankets for kids who need a hug and completed quilt squares for future use. We would also like to thank Barbara McLean and her organization Project Linus for hosting this wonderful and creative service project.
- Serve Idaho in partnership with the Corporation for National and Community Service hosted the 96-hour disaster prepardness kit project - Thanks to all the volunteers who worked together and made 500 one person kits that are being distributed to low income housing residents and senior citizens. We would also like to thank Kallie Wren and Terry Graves of Neighborhood Housing Services, Inc and our Care for Kids AmeriCorps program in partnership with the Community Action Partnership of Lewiston for distributing the kits throughout Idaho communities. Serve Idaho will also distribute 45 of the kits throughout Boise County.
- Boise Parks and Recreation - Thanks to all the volunteers who braved the cold weather outdoors to beautify the Natatorium Pool and Idaho Ice World. Many interesting things were found among the trash that was cleared away. We would also like to thank the Department of Parks and Recreation for identifying the projects and providing the staff to supervise the projects.
- Idaho Food Bank - Thanks to all the volunteers who worked at the food bank to help eliminate hunger. They did a great job and accomplished a great deal. We would also like to thank the Food Bank and their staff for hosting this project.
- Idaho Botanical Gardens - Thanks to all the volunteers who braved the cold weather and cleared the way for the gardens to show all it's color and splendor this spring. Our volunteers used their willing hands with the help of rakes and shovels and did a fantastic job. We would also like to thank the Idaho Botanical Gardens for hosting this service project.
