and Other Opportunities
YMCA Scholarship on Civic Engagement
Scholarships are available to recognize high school students for outstanding leadership in service to their community and neighbors. High school students across Idaho are solving the problems in their communities, demonstrating compassion for others, and serving those who need support. In the Treasure Valley, high school principals may nominate outstanding high school students to be considered for the YMCA Scholarship on Civic Engagement.
Through the generous donation by Edward and Dorothy Stimpson, the YMCA Scholarship for Civic Engagement Endowment has been established, in partnership with the YMCA, Serve Idaho and the Idaho Community Foundation, to award one $5,000 scholarship and one $1,000 scholarship annually.

past seven years, the program has honored more than 40,000 young

Leadership
Training Opportunity
The Prudential Youth Leadership
Institute is a state-of-the-art training program designed to
teach leadership and community service skills to high school-age
students. The program was created and is sponsored by The Prudential
Insurance Company of America, in partnership with the Points of
Light Foundation and Youth
Service America.
What
does it teach?
The Prudential Youth Leadership Institute employs a specially designed
curriculum developed by the Center
for Creative Leadership, one of the world's foremost authorities
on leadership training. It incorporates the latest methodology for
teaching key leadership skills -- such as goal setting, team building,
project planning and decision making -- while emphasizing the importance
and means of applying these skills to community service endeavors.
The training program consists of approximately 30 hours of classroom
instruction, plus hands-on field exercises and a community service
project.
